LANSecure-IT was established in order to provide bilingual IT management services to small and medium sized organisations throughout Wales and the UK.

Tech Lab

Our Tech Lab is a vital part in our engineers research and development aloted time.

With the combination of numerous spare pieces of hardware dedicated for testing purposes, a relative high speed internet connection and our Microsoft TechNet subscription we are testing all kinds of hardware / software before they reach the general public. This means that when we give a recommendation to your company, you can be sure it's been tried and tested to a rigourous standard, and that we have given it our seal of approval.

Open Source Software

Let's not get confused, Open Source is neither a product or a solution. "Open Source" is simply describes practices in production and development that promote access to the end product's source materials (the programming code behind every program)

There are many open source licenses available but most open source software mentioned on this site has a license which covers the customisation and distribution for business use.

So why go Open Source?

A good reason is cost!! With many open source products there are no license fees to pay! e.g. If you are wanting just a simple workstation we can deploy an easy to use Linux distribution. We can now even join them to a Windows Domain and authenticate against a Windows Server or if you were looking for a simple storage solution with regular backups and continuity we can integrate a Linux based storage server saving costs on expenise Windows Storage Server fees.

There is a whole other world to the Microsoft universe!

Linux is an open source operating system which is far more secure than Microsoft Windows.

Security of Open Source

Sure, if anyone can access Open Source code surely people can find ways of breaking and hacking the software?

True! BUT .. Behind every quality Open Source Project there is normally a vast community contributing towards the project e.g. looking over other peoples work and voting whether it should be put in the final product. This implies patches and updates are released more often and as a result there tends to be a wealth of knowledge when things go wrong.

This differs from commercial software where you would have to pay for additional support
